We barely keep any.

What we collect

• An anonymous device ID. When you first open the app it generates a random identifier (a UUID) stored securely on your device. We use it only to count one vote per person per day so the crowd percentages are honest. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any account.
• Your daily picks. The option you choose for each combo is sent to our server and added to anonymous, aggregate crowd counts (e.g. “8% picked this”). We cannot tell who picked what.
• Basic anonymous usage events. So we can tell whether people come back and enjoy the game, we record two simple product-interaction signals — that the app was opened, and that the Share button was tapped — tagged only with the anonymous device ID and the date. No screens-viewed trail, no profiling; these feed aggregate retention counts only. They go to our own server — there is no third-party analytics SDK in the app.
• Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, a report is sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service, so we can find and fix it. It contains the error and where in our code it happened, plus the technical context needed to make sense of it: device model, iOS version, app version, and a short trail of app events immediately before the crash. It is not tied to your identity — no name, no email, no account, and not your picks. Crash reporting is off entirely in our development builds, and it is the only third-party service the app talks to. Sentry processes this on our behalf and we don’t sell or share it.
• Anonymous visit counts on this website. This site (not the app) uses Peeko, our own cookieless analytics, to count page visits and see where visitors came from. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses, and identifies a visit only by a hash that is rotated daily, so visitors can’t be followed from one day to the next or across sites. It is our own product on our own servers, not Google Analytics or an ad network.
• Nothing personal — no email, ever. WEIRDO has launched, so the pre-launch waitlist signup form is gone from this website. If you joined it before launch, the only thing we hold is the address you typed and the time you typed it — no IP, no name — used for exactly one thing: the single launch email. It is never sold or shared, and you can have it deleted at any time by writing to [email protected].

What we do NOT collect

• No name, phone number, or account — WEIRDO has no login, and neither the app nor this website ever asks for your email.
• No location, contacts, photos, or microphone.
• We don’t use IP addresses to identify, profile, or track you, and we don’t build a device fingerprint. (Like any website or server, ours may briefly see an IP to deliver responses and guard against abuse, and standard server logs may record it transiently — but it isn’t tied to your picks or used to identify you.)
• No advertising anywhere, and no analytics SDK in the app — the app talks to our own server and, when something breaks, to the crash reporter described above. Neither the app nor this website uses Google Analytics, an ad network, or any third-party tracker, and nothing you do in the app is used to build a profile of you.
• No performance monitoring, no session replay, no profiling. Our crash reporter can do all three; we switched every one of them off. It only ever hears from the app when the app breaks.

Stored on your device only

Your streak, stats, and settings (sound/haptics) live on your device (local storage) and are never uploaded.

Reminders too. If you turn on the daily reminder, your device schedules those notifications itself. There is no push service and no notification token — we never learn whether one was sent, opened, or ignored.

How the data is used

Solely to run the game: compute the crowd percentages and your rarity/vibe. Aggregate vote counts are retained to build the crowd data over time; because they’re anonymous and aggregated, they can’t be traced back to you.

Sharing

Nothing is ever sold. The only third party that receives anything is the crash reporter above, which handles those reports on our behalf. When you tap Share, your device’s own share sheet sends the image wherever you choose — we aren’t involved.

Children

WEIRDO isn’t directed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.
